Yinka Shonibare at Serpentine Gallery

My explorations of art and architecture, took me on Sunday to Kensington Gardens, my old neighbourhood. This stupendous part of London weaves together nature, heritage, and contemporary vision. I have known and admired Yinka’s work for a long time, his explorations of global culture and Africa. I have not quite appreciated until now the extent of his searching of the history and present through art, activism and social initiatives. Lots of his artwork is moving. Most looks attractive, evoking colours of Africa and perhaps balances some of the profound subject matters with humour and light-heartedness. The afternoon was a small journey of discovery, delight and cherished memories!
