PSAD taking part in Wandsworth London Borough of Culture 2025 – Urban Flow Silk Pennants
PSAD is taking part in this year’s celebrations with this special project, creating the 50 Silk Flags decorated in arrays of patterns and colours by the PSAD community.
On Sunday 13th April, Putney will host an annual Boat race. The Putney School of Art and Design will orchestrate this exciting art event. Fifty artists and volunteers will hold each of the flags and walk down from the school to Putney Embankment, creating an avenue of people holding 50 silk pennants, 25 each side of the street the visitors will pass along. Some of the actual designers and makers will hold their own flags as well as volunteers from Putney and art community.
We are hoping that some of our Friends of school community will participate in this event and would be delighted to hear from you!
As you know this is always a very busy and lively event and an opportunity to help whilst enjoying the Boat race atmosphere in Putney in a prime location!
Timeline
Sunday 13th April 2025 11am – 2.30pm
All makers, volunteers will meet at PSAD at 11am for briefing (with tea, coffee and biscuits).
We will then in groups of 10 make our way to Putney embankment from 12noon.
The banner avenue will be in place from 12.30pm until 2pm.
Note: The bamboo poles are very light so anyone can carry them so long as they can walk from the school to the church (10mins walk).
