Henry Moore – Drawing in the Dark
If you have ever done one of the numerous drawing courses on offer at Putney School of Art (especially life drawing) you may recall the tutor showing, or suggesting you look at, Henry Moore drawings. And they are right to do so because although famous for being one of the 20th century’s finest sculptors he was also a fine draughtsman.
On until 16th April 2023 at the St Albans Museum and Gallery you will find a small, free exhibition of Moore’s drawings of coal miners at work during the 2nd world war. It includes sketchbook drawings, development studies, photographs and a selection of the twenty-eight finished drawings.
